Foot Golf Rules

FootGolf combines the rules of traditional golf with the precision of soccer. The objective is to kick the ball to a designated "hole" which could be a marked target, flag, goal, or object, in the fewest strokes possible. Players should follow standard golf course etiquette avoid interfering with other players.

The "Goal":
Players will go out in foursomes and represent their teams by attempting to shoot the lowest score possible on the course.

Team Format:
The best scoring (lowest) player of the night will earn their team 3 points. 2nd place, 2 points. 3rd place, 1 point. Every rostered member of each team may submit one score per night. A team can only score max 3 points in one night.

Scoring:
One player per group will be the "scorekeeper" and carry a scorecard and a pencil. The scorecard must be handed in at the end of the round.

Etiquette:
Players are asked to show sportmanship and record honest scores for competition. If a player is found to have cheated, they will be disqualified.

Identifying Your Ball:
Make sure you mark your soccer ball so you don't accidentally kick another player's ball. Use your own ball, or use a marker or small sticker to designate.

The Kickoff:
Your first kick on each hole must begin behind the designated tee markers for each hole. You may run up from as far away as you like.

A Clean Strike:
The ball must be kicked in a single movement and from the ground. You cannot punt, volley, bounce, hold, elevate, or throw the ball.

Order of Play:
The person whose ball is farthest from the hole should kick first.

Contact with other balls:
If your ball hits another soccer ball on the course, your "deflected" shot remains where it ended up and the other players ball will be REPLACED back to the exact spot before it was moved.

Contact with other players:
If your ball hits another player, you must re-take the shot from where you last took it, with no penalty.

Moving Your Ball:
If your ball is obstructing another player's kick, on request, you may pick it up, and replace it exactly where it was after they take their shot.

Play It as It Lies:
You must play the ball from exactly where it lands! Wait until the ball has completely stopped rolling before making your next move. All touches count, big or small.

Hazards:
If your ball lands in an unplayable position, such as the woods, thorns, or thick grass, you may take a 1-shot "penalty stroke" and move the ball to the nearest playabe location NOT CLOSER TO THE HOLE.

Obstructions:
Goals, posts, flags/pins, benches, garbage cans, etc. are NOT moveable obstructions. A player will receive a 1-shot penalty for moving any "field" equipment. Personal items such as clothes, bags, personal chairs, coolers, etc. may be moved out of the way of play.

Lost ball:
If you lose your ball in the woods or deep grass, you will add a 1-shot penalty and re-take your next shot from the same location that you last kicked it out. For example, if a player tees off on a hole and kicks their ball deep into the woods and it is lost, the player will then kick shot 3 from the tee.

No Boundaries:
You may play your shot from anywhere, deep grass, woods, water, pavement, sand, etc. within reason. Except parking lots. No damaging or dangerous play allowed.

Safety:
Players should make sure that nobody is standing near or in a position where they might be injured when their kick is executed. Players should also give notice to play a shot which could endanger anyone. Moreover, players must always act to preserve the safety of themselves or any other person by refraining from dangerous acts.

Keep Up A Good Pace:
Have fun but keep moving. FootGolf is harder than it sounds and remember there are other players on the course behind you. Running to your ball helps!
